Energy. It's buzzing around us constantly. Everything- from our phones, the food we eat, the people we meet- has energy running through it.

We often talk about positive and negative energy, good and bad vibes. It is part of our every day language to talk about the energy of people, places and things: we can walk into a space and instantly feel relaxed and happy, or we feel the tension of an argument hanging in the air.

Especially living in a big city we are exposed to all kinds of energy and people around us on a daily basis. The colleague who leaves you feeling drained, the angry stranger on the tube, the rude customer- the list goes on.

For those sensitive to energy, or who tend to take on the feelings of others, this can be exhausting.

We can't control how other people act, but we can do some things to lower the impact.

We all know that feeling, and this article is to help you find easy ways to protect yourself from these bad vibes taking effect on you. There are a number of different resources available, both external and internal tools to help us feel grounded and invincible against bad vibes.

After a long day, simply burn the stick of Palo Santo and let its smoke flow around you, eliminating any bad energy which may have stuck to you from the day. Do the same to your room or space, cleansing and balancing the energy of the space.

It's scent is very grounding, allowing people in its presence to relax physically and mentally, and giving instant feelings of higher connection.

For this reason it is often used in ceremonies, healing sessions, and meditation and yoga.

Meditation and Visualisation

Another great way to protect yourself is to take just a couple of minutes each morning before you leave home. We all know by now how positive meditation is for an array of reasons, but many of us still struggle to dedicate even a couple of minutes a day to this life changing technique.

When you take your meditative breaths in the morning, you can also close your eyes and imagine a protective white light coming straight down from the Universe to surround you. It envelops you in a protective bubble, and bounces any bad energy that comes your way straight back where it came from.

You can recreate this image at any time in the day when you need it most.
